Excellent days out and things to do are all within an easy drive from Chatton Lakes.
On the coast there are numerous villages and beaches to explore with some excellent bars and restaurants. Walkers, cyclists, and golfers have plenty to keep them occupied too.
Chatton is a picturesque village with a local village store stocking local produce, take away food & drink and all your everyday essentials. The Percy Arms is your local pub offering some home-made Northumbrian favourites with outside seating available throughout the year. Both the shop and the pub are a 5 minutes walk from Chatton Lakes.
A little more than a five minute drive away is the friendly historic market town of Wooler (known locally as Glendale; the inspiration for ‘Postman Pat’s, Greendale’). Wooler is an ideal base for walking, cycling and exploring the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. Whilst in Wooler you should also visit Ad Gefrin, a recently opened Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky & Gin Distillery.

Exploring Northumberland
Bamburgh is renowned for its majestic fortress and beautiful expanse of golden, sandy beach and is only 11 miles east.
The elegant walled Georgian town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which straddles the salmon rich River Tweed, and the cobbled market town of Alnwick, protected by its dramatic castle, both offer a wide array of amenities around half an hour’s drive away.

Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction to see the Grand Cascade Waterfall and dine in the restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!
Cragside is a grade 1 listed country house built into a rocky hillside, and the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power.
